My craftsman weed wacker just stop working on me. i was trimming my grass and adjectives of a sudden, it shut off. Now, the pull cord seem to be stuck and wont come out. what the heck is going on?
Answers: My first guess would be from first hand experience. I'd say that something inside the engine broke, if it basically stopped all of a sudden without any "sputtering" or anything prime up to it. I have saw this happen more than once. The small engine make a sound, shakes more than usual than stops. Try to restart. It won't, come to find out the rod broke preventing even the rope from being pulled. It could be simple. It may be that the engine stopped and the rope get hung up on something. Either way is the cost to replace it worth the cost of repairs, or the time and effort to find the problem and hold a 50/50 chance of being competent to fix it? It's a gamble and it's also your choice.
If it is still under warranty embezzle it back. If not you could take the muffler and carburetor rotten and look at the piston/cylinder to see if it is damaged. It should be smooth and shiny. It sounds like the piston siezed. This usually damages both the piston and cylinder. May not be worth fixing. You could also pinch the cover off the engine and make sure that it not a moment ago the starter assembly.
