The 5A fuse for the lighting curcuit in our fuse box blew ultimate night, and enjoy since discovered that the light within our loft is the culprit. Whenever it is turned on the fuse blows.
Were not sure why this has suddenly happen: I dont think the circuit is overloaded. But within has be a lot of rainfall recently and I wondered if it is possible that leak rainwater could be responsible: We have only just moved in and in that may be a leak up at hand.
Would this produce the results seen?
It could but it could be wires touching behind the switch esp. if it's prehistoric wiring
Water is a possible culprit. Take it by stages and isolate things.
Have you removed the bulb?
Is the switch within OK condition?
If so, isolate at the switch by removing the live wire to the reading light fitting etc etc.
Remember always isolate the circuit you are working on from the D!
Answers: I don't know if you mis-typed but shouldn't you be using a minimum 15amp fuse?
