Light Bulb query? I have some of those vivacity saver swirly oil lamp bulbs...

I have some of those vivacity saver swirly oil lamp bulbs in my home and one be flickering like it be going to burn out. So when I went to run get another to replace it it adjectives out. Are the fumes after it burns out hazardous? I heard that they contain mercury. Please consent to me know what I should do. Thank you.
They are not dutiful for the environment so do NOT throw them in the trash. If you enjoy a recycle center you can take them near, if you don't you should wrap it in a tabloid towel and put inside a zip lock roomy before throwing away.

The contents of the bulb are hermetically sealed. If you smell something, it is the fried drive electronics used to create the high voltage needed to frothy these devices.

Dispose of used fluorescent bulbs (even compact fluorescent) at the places you purchase these bulbs. Most states require the sellers to help yourself to the worn out bulbs back. They do indeed contain mercury inside the cup tube and a broken bulb would release this hazardous material.

Answers:    Yes, they contain a trace amount of mercury. There is more mercury in a pound of shrimp than contained by that light bulb.

I wouldn't break it and sniff the powder that comes out of it, but it really isn't that hazardous. People will try to terrify you, but don't let them.

The perkiness savings far outweigh the risk of these bulbs.

I applaud you on your choice to use less dynamism.

Just make sure you dispose of it properly. There are recycle places in every town. Just drop it sour there, and don't verbs about it.
