We have two lenno pulse 21 furnaces (1989) placed into use within 1995, which we need to convert from propane to intuitive gas. Estimates for conversion have be 500 dollars per unit...Is this acceptable?
I second the evaluation on the "pulse" and checking on the recall.

They be rusting out the heat exchangers. At first they started to do a rework and replace the grill exchangers and later recall the furnaces.

I am not sure anybody is supposed to work on them. I know my company wouldn't touch them.
Not possible at all. You inevitability to call around. Let me guess, your Natural gas utility doesn't enjoy a service department?

Look up HVAC companies in your nouns. Your biggest cost is going to be the labor, as it is with most things. The kit can't be that expensive as it consists of a few orifices and a regulator kit for your gas control.
Answers:    No it is not resonable but given the age of the furnaces I am surprised the con. kits are still available. I would be more concerned give or take a few the high probability that the grill exchangers may well be broken. Your pulse furnaces are from a time when it be not good to own a pulse. Do a poke about on your furnaces, you will read some nightmare stories on these units. The Lennox trellis page used to come up completley red with warning. Law suits, carbon monoxide are just a couple of the subjects associated next to the older pulse furnace.
that does sound soaring to me. also check with lennox to see if your unusual pulse furnace has be recalled. in that was alot of problems beside the pulse furnace. i have changed out several unit that lennox paid to enjoy replaced so its well worth your time to check it out. you may win a free furnace from lennox or only pay envelope labor to have a trial one installed. hope this helps you out
