I was reversing out of a drive, the street is really poorly lit and there is no footpath any side of the road. The walls quality be very poor, so a short time ago knocking it (as i did) cause the part to topple.
I have owned up to cause the damage, but is near anything in UK law's etc that i could use to lessen the costs.

Answers:    I'm not sure in the UK, but within the US the responsible party would be allowed to get their own independent bids for cost of repairs that would be impartial and external from the rewarded party. This is to circumvent the opportunity of the rewarded shindig from charging a premium for the repairs and pocketing a profit. Check with local statute to see if this might be applicable in your instance.
