Leaking hose bib? I have a hose bib that go through a block wall...

I have a hose bib that go through a block wall to the outside, and it looks like one of the frost-free types near the long stem. When I operate the hose, I see water wet the blocks and running through the gravel on the ground below, but there is extremely little that I see dripping off the tap outside or at the copper elbow and adapter inside.

The only piece I can imagine is that in that is some hole on the stem itself within the wall. I'm prepared to replace the bib, but I'm having trouble imagine why it would leak apparently contained by the middle of the pipe where at hand shouldn't be any fitting. It looks like they mortared the hole surrounded by the block tight around the bib --could this have corroded a hole contained by the bib stem? Or is there a brand of stem that has a bleed spigot halfway down (I hold only see solid stems at the HW store). I don't want to replace it to find out I misdiagnosed the prob, but I can't imagine a leaky washer cause the leak. Wouldn't it percolate from the knob or faucet?
My guess is that near was wet in the pipe (maybe a leaky washer) that froze and split the pipe.

If it does not dribble when shut off the form is okay so the problem must be in the body of the faucet. If it froze and cracked the pipe between the form and the handle near would only be a trickle when it's on.

I would take the faucet out and check for holes or cracks surrounded by the long pipe section. If in that are none I would take it to a hardware store and replace the packing beneath the bonnet or faucet top if possible.
Answers:    Your fitting could have split if it be installed so that the water did not drain out of the sleeve after it be shut off. When you replace it trademark sure it is pitched down so this doesn't happen again.

Also when you unscrew the antediluvian valve receive sure you have a wrench on the supply pipe.
