My lawnmower just recently started running funny..it cuts the grass fine but it runs, hesitate, runs, hesitates and on and on. It sounds kinda like it's taking a breath.you know, it runs, sounds briefly resembling it's gonna quit then runs again, sounds like it's gonna quit etc.any design?
sounds like it is running too lean,at the carburetor turn the small adj screw to the left slowly until lit runs better,bring in sure your filters aren't dirty. Hard to tell lacking hearing it. Could be a dirty carb, fuel/air mixture needs adjust or choke needs adjusting. Check the spark plug also.
it sounds as though the carb governer spring either popped sour or broke.Some models also had a air rudder lower than the top engine shroud that sensed engine speed as part of the governer assy. I've found these broken off(plastic) causing the engine to rev up and down. i hold the same problem yearly
thieve the carb off and take it apart, remember where on earth everything goes, then verbs it and blow through all the jets and any holes you see--put it vertebrae together and it should be fine---one grain of dirt can clog the jets within the carb !
Answers: Mine does that when I wait too long to cut my grass. If your grass size is not the cause, after check the air filter and your fuel mixture screw adjustment. Maybe it`s running too rich or too lean. Running rich will give you black or gray smoke. Running lean will single give you what you are getting without any unusual smoke. Your spark plug may be fouled or the rope going to it is loose. You could also have sediment in the fuel bowl where on earth the float and metering valve are located.
