Lawn mower won't stay running? I had it serviced a month ago. Accidentaly (!) had it on...
I had it serviced a month ago. Accidentaly (!) had it on the wrong side, so grease got into the muffler etc... tech came out and cleaned it adjectives up, new air filter, have it running like a champ.
Cut to this month. This is the second mow after being serviced. Fires right up and cuts 90% of the grass. I get to a rather cloying section with leaves and some plants that I purely plow through. She's handling it just fine chopping it all up. Suddenly, it slows down. It have a throttle, but it is broke, so the guy just put it at the highest rpm and moved out it. I shake it and it revs back to normal, but as soon as it encounter stuff to cut, it slowed down again, sputtered and then died. At the time, it would start for a bit and run but now I jump to start it and it will fire right up and then IMMEDIATELY die. (runs 3-4 seconds) There is no difficulty getting it start. (no extra pulls etc.) but she dies immediately. It's a push/pull start briggs/stratton murray brand. 5-6 yrs weak. What is the problem?
In the past, when I be cutting thick lawns that be too overgrown I had similar problems of stalling no matter which lawnmower I be using. The way I handle it presently is I'll cut these areas on a higher setting then be in motion back and cut it on a lower setting. The lawnmower has to work too firm and therefore cuts out otherwise.
Clean out everything under the deck to receive the blades turn easier, too.
If the above doesn't work, take it into the shop and let the mechanic thieve a look at it. Also, at 5 -6 years old you should think nearly getting a newer model. I only use Hondas now and they are awesome. Wouldn't use anything else anymore.
My day after day one is a Honda Commercial and the one I use at a friend's place once in a while is one of the Honda homeowner models which works just great.
Hope this help.

get a brand new mower? You need a throttle cable.
