I have a unbelievably nice Pottery Barn floor lamp and the little plastic knob that turns the oil lamp on and off broke surrounded by half. I have been using duct cassette to tape the 2 pieces together and that seem to work for a couple of weeks, but that's stopped working now.
I can see the metal subdivision of the switch where it broke rotten and so little is left on the socket that I can singular turn it on with a set of pliers. Is this something I can fix by buying a replacement? Will it require rewiring?
Answers: You can slickly buy a replacement part at your local hardware store. You will most expected have to replace the full switch. It is unlikely you will find a knob that would by some miracle fit.
The switch can be replaced. By a small appliance repair shop. Rewiring is required. Ask for an estimate before going ahead.
