I don't know too much about toilets but I'm renting a house that's over 20 years dated.Lately my toilet has be leaking hose all around the bottom of it and when i mop it up it come up like glowing color on the mop. And i think this be from the holidays when i got sick and threw up and it be red. But it's been leak for over a week now. It kinda stinks close to sewage but only sometimes and it's not that strong of an odor. Does anyone know if it might be the septic reservoir? i live in the large desert and all the homes up here enjoy septic tanks. someone told me it could be the septic reservoir backed up or something. does anyone know if theres any track i can fix it without have to call a plumber?
Answers: you want a new wax ring
In writ to keep foul odors from entering the house, toilets are hermetically sealed to the drain pipe with a ring of wax. A up to date wax ring is needed when:
* Water leaks from the underside of the toilet when it is flushed.
* Sewer odors are constantly noticed contained by the bath room.
* The toilet is removed so the flooring can be replaced. Removing a toilet is straightforward, there is no have need of to cut around the base of the toilet when installing bright flooring.
* The toilet rocks back and forth, even a short time ago a fraction of an inch. The wax seal will lose its grip if the toilet moves at adjectives.
