We have an above ground pool that we are gap up for the summer. I have added adjectives the chemicals that came near the summer kit which included 2 pounds of shock. We own a 15x30 pool. my ph level is dutiful, but the chlorine level doesnt even register. i hold put the floater in beside 3 3inch disks in it. do i call for to add more shock or is this different
Answers:    I guess Shock is not just stronger but for a while different formulation. It doesn't contain the stabilizers of regular chlorine. It is to be used on top of your regular chlorine.

Shock is much more reactive and "burns out" speedily as a result. In fact the stuff we used be called "burnout". Shock doesn't second long, it dissipates quickly.

You should join your regular chlorine until you are at the right levels. Then when you shock it should tilt your levels greatly high. Then you can't use it until they come down again.

It sounds similar to you haven't yet get your levels dignified enough nonetheless.

Good Luck.
Shocking the pool is just stronger chlorine solution. 2-2 1/2 times the regular ratio. Discs need to dissolve into the system in the past the chlorine will register. Sun and use will will cause chlorine level to go down. Shock is a treatment to be done 2 times a month or so depending on use. Chemicals will not register in a jiffy. Good luck.
