When I switch on my boiler is it supposed to start heating up by itself? Usually I hold to turn up the thermostat (central heating) to get the boiler to see in. Is this majority?
Answers: The thermostat on the wall controls the radiators & works via the ambient temperature contained by the room.If its cold enough the stat I don`t know at a position where it doesnt want turning up because its clicked on already. The boiler heats your hot sea via a stat on the cylinder most probably in your airing cupboard.Again the boiler will one and only come on if your hw needs heat.If the boiler is coming on by itself then its most imagined a fault near a motorised valve as this will overrule the stats. Dont forget obviously the clock/programmer will need to be on too.Without this on,nought will work.(the m/valve(s) can overrule even the clock if one of them is sticking on).
It depends on the type of boiler. If you live in a unusual building it will most likely be a combination boiler which will bake your water on constraint. So if you turn on your hot water touch or turn on a radiator the boiler recognises the drop in pressure and kick in automatically if it is turned on.
