I get a hum nouns inside my house (adjacent to the electric meter outside). I thought it was regular ac hum, but it's pretty loud especially at night when the neighborhood and house are stifled. I turned off the D on the breaker box and recorded the hum beside a microphone near the wall (right on the other side of the wall is the electric meter), and analyzed it near audio software. There is a sharp spike at 120 hz, and a very small spike at 60 hz. My power company say it is not the meter producing the noise. Any concept? It's quite annoying. I'm considering nouns dampening materials.
Did someone from the electric company actually come to the house and check it or newly some clerk telling you what he think the problem is, over the telephone?
I would insist on someone coming to the house. it undeniably sounds like it could be a sanctuary problem.
This is not normal. It could be a sign that your own loose disconnects on your incoming panel. If it is loud enough to journal, I suggest you have an electrician pinch a peek. This is a sanctuary concern.
Good luck.
Answers: It sounds like a discouraging connection inside the meter socket. The power company will own to pull the meter check it. It could be costing you money. Or it could suddenly stop working. Get them out to check it soon. Electricians cannot verbs out the meter. The power company must do that.
