Answers: you should be able to remove the rust moderately easily. in that is a product call "ospho" or prep & etch. they are phosphoric tart based products designed to remove rust from metal. it is as a rule used to clean a metal roof or other structures earlier painting, but it should do fine to capture rid of the rust. i would then suggest a polite cleaning to get rid of the tart residue, and then you should be fine. verbs it with plenty of dish soap and sea and I would say you will be fine. I would grease it to keep the rust from comming posterior. just use regular cooking grease...
