I hit a metal water supply cover. When I did the lawnmower stopped. I tolerate it sit for awhile and checked to see if the blade was bent (it wasn't) Now I can't start it. The rope will not verbs and if I try to manually turn the blades they won't turn. Please help my fiance is gonna flip as this is an expensive pushmower. It is a 4.5hp poulan pro. My dad is gonna try to fix but he doesn't know what it could be.
Answers:    The the cowling past its sell-by date the engine and remove the starter assembly. It could be the engine brake holding the flywheel from turning. You also may have sheared the switch between the flywheel and the crankshaft. Remove the flywheel nut and see if the keyways are aligned, if not remove the flywheel and replace the knob. Once you get the flywheel sour if the engine still won't turn it is most likely internal sprain. Are you absolutely sure that the blade is not bent and immovable under the mower? Remove the sparkplug chain, drain the oil so that you can tip it too look below the mower. Don't tip it on it's side without draining the grease.
you bent the main shaft. it probably will cost as much to fix as it will to buy a untried mower
