I have a crack running from the ceiling down to the finishing of the tiles in a straight smudge through the tiles. As it is a shower I am worried about causeing more despoil behind it. Would it be better to remove these tiles or is nearby anything else I can do.
Thanks
Answers: My question would be what cause the crack in the first place. It sounds resembling the wall might have shifted at the back the tiles, which shouldn't happen. I would be concerned nearly the foundation the tiles were put on.
You could as you would expect just put some silicone grout over the crack, but I feel that would be treating the symptom and not the cause. You are right to be concerned around water getting at the rear the tiles, and I would be very interested to find out why it happen in the first place.
This sounds approaching a job for a pro.
First you entail to figure out what cause the crack. Could it be settling, if you fix it and it comes back you misspent your time. If you want to fix it you can dig the grout out of it and replace the broken tiles if they aren't discontinued.
