In a thermostat range(airconditioner) of 1-10, what is 20 degress?
Answers: You must be talking more or less a window component air conditioner. I don't believe any wall-mounted thermostat control unit for central cooling and heat air-conditioning are graduated that approach. On your air conditioner, however, if the temp. control is graduate that way, I believe that the thermostat control be designed to have a 'median desired control' of around 72 deg. F. for the room space it's attempting to keep hold of cool. That should be #5 on the dial. If the unit is competent of cooling the room space at that setting, the compressor will run until the room space reaches around 72 deg. F. and shut down untill the room space heat up to a degree or two above 72 deg., when the compressor should start up again. If you find that the set median heat is not cool enough, I believe that moving the dial upward toward #10 should do the compressor to run longer before shutting down -- IF the A/C element has the CAPACITY to do the cooling.
I honestly believe that you'd own to have a completely high-BTU- removal rating for your air conditioner to amend the temp. by 20 deg. for an average sized room on a really extra-WARM day.
The biggest reason they put numbers on them instead of degree is that thermostats can vary or even translation over time. So they can't put an exact temperature on them.
Get a thermometer and find out what it is for your component.
