I have a powerstrip plugged into an outlet. The items contained by this powerstrip have run for a few months minus an issue. when I tried to use them the other night, I found that they have all be shut off. I jiggle the plug in the outlet and the power come on temporarily, but I could see blue sparks behind the outlet plate. The items would not stay on though. I unplugged the powerstrip and plugged it into the second recepticle contained by that outlet. It worked fine until tonight. The same issue occurred (things won't stay on and in that are sparks behind the plate when jiggled). Also, I notice today that the outlet is now humming when things are plugged into it. What is cause these issues and how do I fix it?
I had a similar experience contained by my dorm room. Sometimes it is caused by have too many things plugged into an outlet/powerstrip and it is drawing on too much power, other times it could be a short within a wire/bad wiring. It be scary for me, especially when it spit blue sparks at me by a wooden bed, but explicitly what the electrician told me and my dorm mate. Call an electrician and see what they say if adjectives else fails.

Trouble shooting electrical problems is as much a art as it is science.
Start from your end first replace the receptacle within the wall and check the wiring connections while you hold it apart.
Replace the plug in strip after the receptacle is replaced. Plug your items within one at a time and try the equipment before you plug surrounded by the next section
I bet that takes thinking of your problem
Good Luck
