the home needs some moderate repairs. One of which is that the AC component is old and outdated. How much would it cost on average to own it replaced? Would it be unreasonable to ask them to replace it for me, or knock off the price a bit considering the repairs?
Answers: zilch wrong with asking for anything you want
this is a "BUYERS MARKET" which method every thing is contained by your favor right now... you can ask and request anything... worst skin scenario is the answer could be no....
regarding A/C... most home purchase contracts stipulate a percentage of the price to dance to home repairs but an AC being outmoded &/or outdated doesn't mean it doesn't work... but you can still ask and you could other make a treaty... (I DID THIS WITH ONE OF MY HOMES)... one of the two AC units be over 20 years old, so i get a quote and had the merchant split the cost, he agreed to remove that amount from the contract value...
concerning cost... varies greatly on how masses seers and how several tons... and remember just because the house have a specific size now, don't procure a quote for that size, get a quote for what the city requires... most cities require a larger seer number than what be required years ago....
GOOD LUCK
You can bid less or ask for it to be replaced. Depending on the size of the home it could cost up to $5000.
