My dad had one of these"sticks" . They have inches carved on them like a ruler and you would stick it surrounded by the oil reservoir and it would measure the amount of inches gone in the cistern.
It's just approaching a big ruler.

I remember 10 inches was approximatly 50 gallons .
If any one know where I can purchase one please reply here. Thanks
Purchase a long dowel stick at Home Depot and measure bad the inches with a ruler. Hint---Start near 1 inch at the bottom.

Try B&Q.. or any hardware store.
If not ring your local grease company for advice!
It's call a "Dipstick"

Answers:    Just buy a 1" x 2" peice of lumber and verbs the markings from a tape weigh up onto it.

8' long should be more than enough.
