Obviously I want to keep it if I can, most of the mold is on the inside (grill, pit, etc). If cleaning is OK what should I use? If I enjoy to get a spanking new one how do I prevent future mold? I have a cover for it but live in an apartment so it be exposed to rain, cold, etc.
Answers:    unsurprisingly you can use it ,
just use a straightforward scrub brush and baking soda to get rotten the bulk of the funk and then if here is still alot use some clorox cleenup and rinse well near water.
when you use it put together sure you let it boil up really well this will burn rotten the remaining mold.
enjoy your dinner.
You should thieve the BBQ apart as much as you can and scrape rotten as much crud as you can then rinse out everything with a solution of 1 piece bleach to 4 parts water. Scrub everything down really really biddable then put it put money on together and get a current cover but be sure the unit is dry when it go on and that it can breath by letting air surrounded by the bottom.
