How much larger? You want your filter to know how to handle the extra marine from the pump. Call a pool company in your nouns or go on file and find pump and filter suppliers to see if the new pump and filter are compatible.

I other feel anything the manufactuer recommends should be larger as we want that cleaning profession to be done faster. Not recommended when dealing with house pumps, furnaces, AC, etc, but make sense with pool equipment.

Answers:    I know of two people that enjoy hooked up an in ground pump to their intex pool and they work fantastic! Cleans the complete pool in a couple of hours.
