too Hot! I have small children and they other have colds within the winter and I think this constant evolution in temperture have something to do with it. How can I regulate the warmth in my home, this drives me nuts every year, and my gas bill is resembling another mortgage! I bought the new double window, put up plastic, had adjectives cracks sealed ect and it's still "chilly" on my first floor, and another world within the basement, this is really an feeble house. Don;t say vend and get another one I'm surrounded by too deep and besides we love this house outside of the heat problem!
Answers: You might want to invest in ceiling fan for upstairs and just turn them on slow satisfactory to keep the heavens circulating preventing hot/cold spots thrroughout the house. If your house is really old, in that may be leakage of boil from the air ducts contained by the basement. Get out the duct cassette and seal adjectives seams within the ducts. if you have accessible vents surrounded by the basement you might want to close them. Another point, make sure you are shifting your furnace filter regularly. Check into a duct cleaning company. I bet its never been done on your home and you will be surpised at the mat of dirt that lays in the horizontal ducts of your home. (imagine the lint trap of the dryer if you never took the lint out after drying clothing). Go subsidise and check all of you window again. Once the heating season comes, i push up on the upper windowpane and down on the lower window and variety sure the lock is in place. The vibrations surrounded by the house from the kids running and doors slamming and music playing, etc. always tend to loosen the top window of a double hung and it will be unscrew slightly, but enough to own cold air purely seeping within. Same with the door. roll up a towell and place it at the bottom of the doors to prevent door drafts. (you have kids and probably already own them)
