This section of my meadow receives little direct sunlight. Due to this, moss have grown over many section and crowded out the thinning grass. I want to re-establish and thicken by over-seeding the grass but do not know whether it is a viable option or simply a waste of time given the moss and the lighting conditions.
Answers: You can fracas nature and try to brand name grass grow. You'll need to preserve the soil sweet (lime), well fertilized near a balanced fertilizer (such as 10/10/10) and sculpt the nouns so that water drains away and the soil have an opportunity dry or till in sand to going on for 6-8 inches. Stop in at a local nursery or a grange co-op for shade tolerant grass nut.
Or, you can join outlook and turn it into a showcase garden. Plants such as hosta, tradescantia, bleeding heart, mallow, wood iris, vinca and hellebore do well within shade. There are dwarf azaleas, dwarf rhododendrons, heebie shrubs and upright fuchsias that resembling shade also. Or, you can clear the area of grass, put down industrial class weed block and place cobbles or bricks in the nouns and maybe add on a patio table and a couple of grassland chairs.
Contact a garden club or the Extension Service for plant ideas.
There probably isn't adequate light for grass, but, perchance they sell a special sort for shady areas. Maybe leave it as moss; you don't own to mow moss!
