I own two discharge pipes for my sump pump one is underground and one is above ground, why? The one above ground is the one that is self used...

The one above ground is the one that is self used and the one below ground is not being used. Can you transmit me why this is so and if I can put the discharge pipe into the pipe that is underground or not?
Answers:    When you look contained by your sump pump pit you should see a black pipe about 4" round going into the side of your pit-This is for your ground water-This pipe is what is running through out the underside of your concrete to pickup ground water--There should be a pipe coming stale of your pump this is your discharge pipe from your pit--this pipe either go out the side of your house or it ties into your sewer drain.
There might be another pipe coming from your pit this should be a vent if you have lid on your pit that is to say sealed. The vent should be tied into another vent from your house plumbing.

Hope this help.
The one underground most likely go to a storm sewer or ditch somewhere. The one that is above ground is most plausible an "overflow" bypass incase the other plugs.
