When the forced air gas heat system has be on for awhile, the exposed metal duct can feel rather hot to the hand, so I wonder if applying duct cassette directly to a heated metal surface will cause problems. My classic purpose is to cover the duct with some brand of material which would provide insulation importance.
duct video is not for heating ducts. it doesn't hold up beneath heat.
1st those answer seems right to me.
righteous luck to ya
First, on a HOT duct they use a metal cartridge on the seams, and the boil actually 'sets' the cement.

There is also a type of insulation, I think its fiberglass, specifically made in long dictatorial rolls specifically to wrap around air ducts.

Check beside a heating contractor as to what is needed.
Answers:    There is a specific heat cartridge made just for that. Loews, Home Depot or any key store would carry it. It looks similar to a heavy position of stiff tinfoil and once applied, will bond and seal itself. Cost is almost $18 for a roll.Do NOT use duct tape. Duct cassette is not rated for a warmth situation. I hope this helps you.
Absolutely do not use duct tape. Duct video will work only for a little, then dry up and dive off. Either use metal video designed for this job or use mastic. Mastic is messier, but will final forever. Then, wrap it with fiberglass insulation (but not too tight, don't compress insulation).
