HVAC question-- Can I replace a gas pack beside a split system? I need to replace the 1.5 ton gas packet system on my...

I need to replace the 1.5 ton gas packet system on my house (it's only 900 sq. ft.), but they're not made that small anymore. The smallest currently available is 2 tons. I'm concerned beside putting an oversize unit on the house (old section seemed to be plenty for the size of the house), which logically also requires upgrades to ductwork and electrical (more and more $$$), and apparently it's still likely to short cycle and shorten the enthusiasm of the compressor. None of the HVAC guys I've had out for a quote are authentic happy nearly putting one of these too-big-for-my-house units on any. It seems close to there are still split systems made contained by the 1.5 ton range-- is converting from a package to a split system workable? Can a furnace be put in a crawlspace?
Answers:    I do not know who told you that you cannot take a 1.5 ton gas/electric package section but they are wrong. We just installed this Carrier element on a small cottage in Sonoma California. If they are trying to terrify you off from R-22 they are newly trying to rip you off. I would not verbs about availability of R-22 for at least possible 15 years or longer The Carrier web site can give support to you find a contractor in your nouns. Be aware that Carrier is not the cheapest unit on the flea market but they are quite well-mannered.

depending on how tight/loose your house is, a 2 ton package system might or might not be a obedient idea. Also I'm sure you can find another 1.5 ton system out in that (Achiever by Ruud?) . you would have deeply more options near a split system. And yes, you can have a furnace contained by a crawl space but it's not always fun varying the filters.
