its a nordyne 10 seer standard efficiency split system central nouns unit model sqa-030ka with a coleman furnace and thermostat. we cut out the desperate part of the wire and rewired it to the element and won't work. furnace won't turn on. the inside or outside fan won't turn on. the circuit breakers in breaker box and on furnace are fine. can't find a reset switch or fuses. the wires are too small for inline fuse. you can here the furnace hum but won't see on. the manual i recieved tells how to install it and thats adjectives. the service numbers i have are for parts only.i can't find a service instruction manual online anywhere. the website asks for a contractor password.please help. i don't have much money so i would resembling to try to fix it myself before i call a service man
If not a fuse, it might have burnt out your thermostat haha, sucks for you
I work on specs for these kinds of things (I work beside engineers). Those thermostat wires can be tricky and delicate things, and once it gets reconnected, at hand will have to be a round of testing. I suggest you call upon an HVAC repairperson PRONTO, before a heatwave comes along. if you end up messing it up worse, afterwards you'll regret not calling a repairman.
If you rewired it wrong, trying to get it to work might end up burning something out, implication that the whole thing might obligation to be replace, a LOT more than getting a repairman at this point.
Answers: My nephew did this to my sisters AC finishing weekend. In her case it was a small purple fuse, 3 amp (the type you would find surrounded by a automobile) that had blown. It was located contained by the furnace section (as described by Ron R) on a white control board.^
you solely have two wires to chose from and this is very low voltage. There, try reattaching the wires again, making sure they both enjoy a good metallic ocntact. You CANNOT get shocked from this, it's going on for 12 volts, tops. If it doesn't work, and you've checked the thermostat to make sure you have it contained by the correct position, redo the wires and try again. This is a coomon thing near weed eater and generally no big deal. Keep trying, construct sure you remove enough of the wire insulation, that plastic stuff so that you hold good connections, You blew the 24v Control fuse inside the furnace. My guess is that the furnace function wont work, in increment to the airconditioning, because the thermostat has no power to "tell the furnace to come on". I know that on my Trane nouns handler, the fuse is inside the cabinet, above the air conditioning "a-Coil" and above the blower. On a furnace, it is going to be in the compartment of the furnace where on earth the gas valve and controls are located. Worst case scenario, you may enjoy fried the control board if the wires were shorted out for long enough. You may enjoy to call a heating and cooling tech out, but this isnt really that big of a problem, should be a minimal charge.
