We usually pay around $70ish a month for electricity. This olden month the bill was $115! With an extra 400KW of usage. And the electric company said zilch was wrong but we are using roughly speaking 95kw a day which is extremely giant for us. Normally its 20-30/day. Obviously sometihng is going bad or something and sucking electricity similar to mad. How do we check what it could be and what do we do?
Answers: Depending on the type of electric meter they can be tricky to read. The meter reader may own screwed up the reading. Or passed it by and guessed at it from passed records. I've have it happen for both electric and gas meters. Compare it to your bill.
Outside of that, and not knowing the layout of your house, have someone placed the central boil fan surrounded by 'ON' instead of 'AUTO' (just happened within my house)? Is your water hotter than typical? Neighbor stealing power? Rarely used closet's light departed on?
Watch the meter and turn off one breaker at a time, going away them off as you run through them to see which one slows down the meter's consumption indicator (spinning wheel or LCD bars) and investigate the circuit that cause the greatest reduction surrounded by consumption.
