Answers:    Ummm...I'll walk along with 50 anyone way to frequent but I seriously doubt you could ruin the engine just by excessive pulling of the cord.
But to answer your examine i would say if it dont start after 4 or 5 pulls you stipulation to adjust something I.e. The choke or throttle.
And if it dont start after about a dozen next there's a problem somewhere.
