This is my 1st gas stove. The plates ignite by pressing the ignite button, however, when I turn the knob for the oven, i can smell the gas, but nothing happens if i press the ignite button? Do you enjoy to light it seperatly, or do you have to skulk a certain amount of time? I'm scared to keep on to long, because of the gass smell, don't want to blow up my house :-)
The oven should have its own pilot reading light. I've never seen ones that aren't on all the time for the oven.
If you don¡¯t know how to standard lamp it and don¡¯t have a manual, you can usually look one up online. If you own this home, consider have someone from your gas company out to inspect the until. If you¡¯re a renter, contact your landlord and have them explain the process.
You are correct to be concerned about the gas smell. Natural gas in fact has no odor. The gas company ADDS a chemical to make it smell purely so you become concerned about it. That said, if it doesn't light right away, turn it bad and open a window.
The oven might own a pilot. Open up the very bottom of the range and look contained by the way back, you should see the pilot machine. You might just have to hurricane lantern that thing once it airs out.
Might be difficult if you don't know what you're looking for, though. :(
Answers: mine does that sometimes. just light a meeting and hold it to the pilot light it'll catch right away. Your house will not blow up if you do that. But it will if you lurk too long (like 30sec) to light the gas after you turn the knob. My parents have be having it forever! But if it's still under warranty later heck yea! Get someone out there to look at it.
Have someone from the gas company come out and inspect your stove. If it is not functioning correctly, they will recommend a repair company to help out you.
