my thermostat shows:
60 * 70 * 80 * 90 *
so, so the numbers mean the actual heat or is it the dot beside the number that is the actual heat. For example, if i put the thermostat on the dot next to the 70, does it stingy that the thermostat is on 70 or 75 degrees???
Thanks to anyone who answers...:)
Answers:    I would contemplate the * is for between the numbers, ie 65. 75, 85.
Have you considered putting in an electronic thermostat, preferably a programmable type? It would supply a digital reading near 0.5 degree precision. It can be programmed to dampen temperature overnight or when not a soul is home and save dollars doing so. It could confidently pay for itself within a single heating season.
If you turn the dial let's say-so on 70, the furnace will keep the interior temp at 70.
Now if you hold a digital, you set it 70 and the other number usually next to it, will detail you what temp it is in the room.
Digital is much more accurate. You should invest contained by one.
They are pretty cheap and easy to install.

Oh I read your give somebody the third degree wrong.
It will probably be at 72.
