How to tag on 2-part drain to kind iron pipe surrounded by shower? After major sea damage, which included two rooms and a closet,...
After major sea damage, which included two rooms and a closet, coming from a long-existing outflow in shower container, we removed everything down to the studs. What's left is the cement foundation near what looks like a make iron pipe drain coming from cement foundation.
Hubby lost his job so we are going to enjoy to do most of the work ourselves. Researched mortar, sloped shower pans and surface confident we can do it.
Our concern is what to attach to the existing cast iron pipe to distribute us a two-part drain?
I'm good at PVC/cutting/gluing/attaching and my husband is virtuous at copper solder. We are just not sure what to join to the old hunk of metal pipe/drain coming out of the cement.
Any lend a hand to get us started will be greatly appreciated!
Did I mention how tired I am of showering outside or within the garage this past 5 weeks? *smile*
Answers: You can buy a coupling to be exact rubber and has a hose clamp on respectively end to stamp them. Go to the hardware and ask. They will know what you are talking something like. Very easy to use. It sounds you should be more than powerful to do this project.
you will need a coupling to attach to the existing pipe. from at hand, you will need a 2" trap and vent file which will connect to the drain for the shower. check with your local plumbing codes to be sure you are in building codes for your area.
