How to fix my diverter?!?!? I have those three knobs one for cold hose down and other...

I have those three knobs one for cold hose down and other for hot..when i turn them they spill water out the bottom spout into the tub(this works fine)..but when i turn the middle knob (that should divert the water 100% to the shower head)..50% or more is still coming out of the bottom spout and simply 40% or less is coming out the shower head..

1) What is wrong?
2) How can i fix it?
I don't think this is a job for the layperson. nickname a plumber. there are many different diverters within many different valves. It sounds to me similar to your water pressure is not high ample to send it through the shower head. Try getting a low flow cranium and that should help the situation. Good luck

if the diverter is on the tub spout, replace the spout.

if it's on the tap body, you have to shut off the river and replace the diverter.
Answers:    you call for to rebuild the diverter stem. take stale the handle. remove the stem. now dont forget to also lug out the seat. this is a part adjectives the way in the spinal column of the valve. you will n eed to purchase a seat tool for this. if you dont switch out the seat then you wont be completely fixing your problem. once you own the seat and the stem taken out go to the hardware store and bring exact replacements. you might as well do it for the hot and cold water also
