I need to put posts that are 1" square and pointed into the frozen ground. I typically in recent times pound my thick steel posts into the dirt no problem but the ground is knotty. I can chip away at it with a shovel. Do you own any suggestions on how to create 2" holes that are 5" deep? Should I use a drill next to a large bit? Any other accepted wisdom?
