the house that we are getting is pretty much plywood and siding...how much would it cost (minus the cost of the door) to put in a door to get to the subsidise yard? how would you do it alone (no carpenter)??THANKS
It really wouldn't cost much, but you have need of to know a little bit about framing. Basically you want a saw to cut the hole for the door and the proper size header and framing for your particular garage. Try a few estimates. It probably isn't as bad as you reflect.
Most handy men will do it for about $60 to $100. I would not recommend that you do it yourself. Too many little details to travel wrong. Just cutting the hole wrong will be a expensive mistake. You have to cut the siding without fault, and trim it out.
Parts will be about $100 to $200. (Depending on quality and your location.)
Answers: Maybe a little bit close to 25-30 dollars for all the framing of the door some shims, and just stipulation to research framing to make sure you do it right, then Of Course the Door, which is similar to 80 to 100 dollars, unless it is an expensive one, overall, prolly can expect to pay around 150-200 dollars after all the extras you pay envelope for...
