I would like to know surrounded by detail how the new underground store is built to be protected from water: membrane, weeping tiles, etc. A correlation to a website where adjectives the details are depicted would be good.

Answers:    Pea gravel is placed underneath the floor to a depth of about 4 inches, this allows drainage to the inside fringe footer drain which is also in pea gravel and it drains into the sump pump. The outside footer also have a perimeter drain pipe and explicitly in pea gravel also and drains into the sump pump. The sump pump is piped to outside of the house.

Then the entire foundation is stamp coated against moisture mortar mix and with asphalt or a barrier of plastic and after it is enclosed contained by four to five feet of pea gravel that allows marine to drain down into that perimeter footer drain into the sump pump.

If that isnt plenty, the roof drains are piped away from the house at least 15 to 20 foot.

And , in the brand new homes, the basements are "poured" concrete @ 25K strength With reinforced steel grip strut in them. Not cement blocks approaching in the recent past where basements leak and cracked at the joints.

If this is done your underground room will be bone dry.

Pea gravel is a good drainage environment, it costs about $5 a ton and is really cheap to put contained by when constructing a basement. Put lots of it around the foundation walls and you will own a dry basement.

May I suggest you look contained by the yellow page for companies that nothing more than formulate basements of pured concrete and possibly visit a site where on earth this is going on. On the companies website will be how they follow local codes and build the basement.
