The burner assembly has an L shaped flame sensor.
It have an orange line and a ceramic dais. It needs cleaning or replacing if it become contaminated. That flame sensor tells the module to hold on to firing till the thermostat kills the cycle.

The switch can be a gas switch using thermal expansion. On this type you have to hold it on for a while yourself until it heat up.
