How does outer layer and stick flooring hold up? I want to use peel and stick flooring in my bathroom as...
I want to use peel and stick flooring in my bathroom as a cheap alternative to costly renovations and wondering if anyone could explain to me about the quality of them. Will the steam from the shower inflict them to shift or will they still stay firmly in place?
Go to Home Depot and look at their 'floating' vinyl flooring, sticks to itself but not the floor. Works better than peel and stick. All you involve is a smooth surface for it to lie on. No worries about adhesion. They in truth work pretty well. If you have any come up, basically use tile glue and a weight to replace it.
I have used the prepare and stick flooring and would not recommend it . If they are in a hot room for a period of time they will eventually shift and start blistering from the floor. You do have the option of buying paste to use with them but I will tell you from experience that after a while the epoxy resin will bleed thru the tile and you will end up having to replace them. Even though repairs are more expensive I feel you would be better off to go that route. Once its done you dont own to worry about it anymore whereas, next to the stick and peel tiles you are eventually going to have to replace them. Peel and stick tile come contained by varying qualities, but even the inexpensive ones I've used stuck well...
They want to be applied to a "clean" smooth surface and are an excellent alternative to expensive repairs.
Properly nailed underlay is a idyllic base for them, and it's a rewarding DIY project.
Answers: To properly install peel and stick tile first ensure that the sub floor is verbs of dirt and debris. Also ensure the sub floor is completely level, if its a wood sub floor, ensure the nail are flush with the sub floor. Then apply a Floor Primer, this will ensure that the tiles will properly bond with the sub flooring, I own used Jasco Flooring Primer, applied with a foam roller. Let it dry for a half hour, next start applying your peel and stick tiles. I have done this process beside both concrete and plywood sub floors with no problems.
