The botton curved pipe under my sink must have be so old that a part of it literally crumbled today! I removed the disappeared side but the right is so tight, it will not loosen. I tried oil, WD 40, Liquid Wrench, to no avail. Any suggestions how to loosen this thing!!
Thank you!
Answers: you can also try:
slide a 12" piece of metal pipe over the bar of the pipe wrench to increase the leverage.
heat the nut with a torch to loosen the corrosion, after tap the nut with a tack hammer.
make sure you are using pipe wrenches, one on nut one on pipe. far more torque, and it will tighten on the nut as you turn it.
Hope that helps.
Have you tried rhythm the area with a sledge hammer first. Then, use the hammer to hit the wrench to loosen it. try to heat the nut or cut it out next to a sawzall
