How do I take a replacement knob for an elder oven? Not a thermostat knob.? The oven came next to my apartment. It's a hotpoint, but...
The oven came next to my apartment. It's a hotpoint, but the model number is defaced and it's severely old. The thermostat knob is okay, but there's a separate knob to turn the oven on. It have four settings, and I know which one is "Off," but the label have completely worn off and I don't know which of the other settings is cook, or what the other two settings are. I'm afraid of doing terrible things any to the oven or to my food... like catching something fiery. I suspect one is "clean." Broil is right on the thermostat knob, so what's the ultimate one?
Is there a standard lay down for settings of this sort? If so what is it? If not is there any bearing to look up a hotpoint model by serial number? Is there a gallery of behind the times hotpoint ovens I can look through? Am I overthinking this?
Hoping for a quick answer, it's slowly and I'm hungry. :(
Answers: usually turning clockwise, off consequently bake, the timed burn, then broil.
