How do I unclog a drain within the kitchen of a double sink? I have 2 sides of an enamel sink and I notice that...
I have 2 sides of an enamel sink and I notice that when I would let the wet out of the sink that I washed dishes within, the other side would fill for a time with sea. I thought I was doing a angelic thing when I saw this happen and decided to plunge it. Now, both sides are clogged and no hose will go down any one rendering my sink useless. I've been plunging for an hour and this crap comes up but the sinks are still plugged.
Help me please next to this crazy problem.
Answers: Look under the sink to see which side have the drain going into the wall (not the one connecting to the one going to the wall).. shove a rag or something else into the drain of the one not going directly to the sewer. THEN plunge. What you're doing is ineffective because the upper air is escaping through the second drain. If it's plugged, the pressure will go down the proper pipe. Of course, once you're clear, filch out the rag or anything you used to plug the other side.
If that doesn't work look at this site for more info

Under the sink there is a U shaped pipe (called a trap)...here are two large screw rings (or nuts) on any end of the U. They are usually foot tight...unscrew them (put a pot under the pipe to confine any water that may come out), cart the U off and verbs the pipes out. Make sure you don't cross thread them when you put them back together. (easy job)
