We bought a house and can not use the key pad to unequivocal close the garage door because the previous owners did not provide us with their code. What can I do to have it cleared so that we can set up our own?
What kind of opening is it. Post and I can give you directions. It is most likely one of these sets.
Lift master/ chamberlain/ craftsmen
overhead door/ genie
If you look around in that should be a controller box on the wall. I would look near where the knob pad is on the inside wall of the garage. It may be only the size of a pack of cigarettes. Look on the side of it and at hand may be a switch that has two settings up and down and it may say set or program after operate. If you can't tell what it is just switch it to the other position. Punch within the code you want and then switch the switch back. Try the clean code. I had one on my last house and that be the way it worked. The switch is small and hard to see look for it scrupulously. If this doesn't work those key pads are comfortable to install if you can operate a screw driver.
When I said punch in a new code use the push button pad that you will use to open it. If you can't find it and here are no screws in the box purely pull on the cover and see if it will pull sour so you can get a better look to locate the switch.
You need to contact the local production company of the security keypad. They should be able to confer you a code for it.
What mode of opener do you have? And if you hold the manual your in luck and that answers your quiz. If you don't google your opener and your should be on the right track. Call Chamberlain at 1-8OO-528-6563. Have model # handy.
Answers: If you cannot find a encyclopaedia for it you can purchase a new keypad. They are fairly inexpensive.
