I have hear that drywalling over top might be the easiest and cheapest...or just giving it two coats of puddy, which sounds easyish untill it comes time to sand it adjectives down...but wouldn't I have to sand the drywall anyway? I'm a bit afraid to remove the stucco as I don't a)know what's contained by it, and b) the mess of that.
Any suggestions?
Answers:    No matter what, it is going to be a mess. YES! Gypsum board will be your cheapest pick. Stucco is expensive. DonĄ¯t be afraid to tear it down, because it is lately a wire mesh underneath the three coats. It will label a mess, but sanding gypsum bd. Is the worst!!! Fine dust. Unless you know what you are doing, I would hire a contractor out to hang up your gypsum boardĄ. or if you decide to fix your stucco or plaster, because inappropriate installation can leave to HUGE headache down the road.

Drywall is the easiest answer to your situation. Have a professional do it. Putty will not work. Avoid getting a blown on acoustical ceiling after it is installed. Texture does high irregularities but they can do it enormously lightly; no obligation for the popcorn ceiling once so popular. Easier to paint, too.
