How do I repair a chipped and cracked mug? This was a souvenir bought surrounded by San Francisco on our honeymoon....

This was a souvenir bought surrounded by San Francisco on our honeymoon. I'm not sure what material it's made of. (I've search the Internet for tips on ceramic repair, but I'm not really sure that that's applicable...does the possession "ceramics" apply to an ordinary coffee mug from a souvenir shop?)

I obligation to fill within a jagged chip on the rim, as okay as strengthen the mug internally where nearby is a crack running down the side. (I just want to hold it on display, not drink out of it, so it doesn't matter if the substance is poisonous or won't stand up to hot water, etc.)

Besides some how-to counsel, I mainly want suggestions on exactly what glue, filler textile, etc., to use. And if anyone knows an Internet site where on earth I could order the things, that would be especially appreciated!
Answers:    Hi Valory,

Your best bet is probably going to be epoxy. It's a 2 part system, where on earth you mix equal parts of resin and hardener. The link below is to a site which you can purchase an epoxy manufactured by Devcon. They phone up it 2 Ton Epoxy, for it's strength. It dries clear and is good for several different types of materials including ceramics. The epoxy comes within a two-sided syringe, making it easy to dispense equal amounts. Use a treatise plate or piece of cardboard to mix it on, and a Popsicle stick or maybe a toothpick (for smaller cracks of areas) to apply it. Should know how to handle within 30 min. and fully cured in 12 to 16 hours. I hope this help Valory, good luck.
