I'm at work right now, and by myself. I flushed the toilet around 20 minutes ago and then something go wrong!
The toilet won't stop flushing! The bowl filled with wet (just like after a flush), but it was still draining and bringing within more water from the bowl. I lifted the lid, and here was no water contained by it, but a little water be spraying from inside. I lifted the floater and everything stopped. Also, the toilet handle is loose, and the flush spigot is still open.
I ended up putting some springy bands together and it's holding up the float. There's still no water surrounded by the tank.
What could be going on?! Is it a water problem, is something plugged contained by the toilet and causing this?
Please help! Thanks!
We should be giving you points for your ingenuity.
There is (or should be) a rubber flap that covers a generous hole on the bottom of the tank where the hose drains out when you flush the tank. Sounds like that flap is missing so instead of the reservoir refilling, it is just going right support down the drain. The tank is making the flushing sound because the container is not filling with marine - once it is filled the float will float to the top and the water will turn stale. The flap is stuck open. Take off the lid and close the flap next to your hand. Remove the elastic band and use the toliet at the gas station down the block for now on.
Answers: This is in truth fairly simple..your flush valve is acting up for anything reason. You can clise it by hand, and permit the water run...it'll fill the container and shut off automatically.
The only legitimate "cure" for this is to replace the valve...not very unyielding or expensive. You can pick them up at wal-mart or lowes.
Otherwise, you're simply going to have to watch the toilet when you flush, and create sure it isn't happening again. If/when it does, you're going to have to jiggle the manipulate to get the valve closed again.
