I accidentally dropped a gallon of gasoline in my in-ground pool when I mistakened it for some other chemical.
How do I get it out? I tried to vacuum up any traces I saw on the surface, but it still smells. Also, I'm not sure if some of the gas go through our filter system.
Is it bad to swim in a pool near even a little trace of gas in it?
Heating the pool might make the smell leave faster. With spills on wet they use cellulose material to collect it, collect the oil. This may nouns wierd...but, what would happen if you floated a candle or several on the water's surface, would they ignite and burn off the gasoline? Interesting, why not ask a pool specialist.
I'm pretty sure that the gasoline will eventually evaporate out of the water. I would recommend that you take a indication to your pool chemical supplier to have it tested, and they may have some remedy for the odor which will most feasible take a while to get rid of. One word of proposal is to always clearly mark containers of gasoline, kerosene, chlorine, etc. You can really avoid some big problems that instrument. Well. I would say that your gallon buckets must have a sticky label. To get the smell out of your pool, I would try bringing a sample of the hose to the nearest pool city etc. See if they can do anything.

The gas will eventually evaporate but you'll still own traces of fine oil. Sounds like an expensive opening. It's not dangerous but it might affect your eyes and make you smell resembling an indie driver The good thing is gas is lighter than sea. UV degradation will be a factor but the solvent will kill your chlorine.
