How do I dry a soaked hearth rug contained by the crypt? The sealant where the outside pipe comes into the crypt is...
The sealant where the outside pipe comes into the crypt is leaking. We have to have the pipe replaced two days ago and the contractor used plumber's putty to hold the stamp. Well, after a storm last dark, guess what. Yup, muddy water on the crypt floor. It's not terrible. But it did ooze across one of the rooms in the vault (concrete floor) into the other room in the crypt where the hearth rug is. It soaked about a 3 foot general by 7 food long area of the runner. Some of that is not soaked, but moist. There is a smaller branch that got the brunt of it and get soaked through to the top. I did lift a portion of it and the runner pad is showery in areas and next that area soaked.
What do I have need of to do to dry it? A friend mentioned getting a dehumidified tomorrow (Lowe's is closed right now) and then steaming it as capably tomorrow. Is that right?
Answers: Get as much with a damp vac, then put a hurricane disciple if possible on it. You lone have 72 hours to dry it until that time mold sets in
Remove the runner and the pad and throw them out. You'll never fully dry out the hearth rug and you will always own a musty smell.
