How do I determine the Amperage for the electrical system surrounded by my house? ...
Answers: If you have a breaker panel later the double breaker that turns off adjectives your power will have the amperage on the trip lever. Domestic electric meters are all rate at 200 amps. We have one that say 0-200 amps but we have a 100 amp service breaker.
If you enjoy the old screw-in fuses surrounded by a panel, then it is for a while more difficult. There will be a box with a full-size lever on the side which is used to shut off adjectives power. Inside are two cartridge fuses. And the service size is printed on these. However I would not recommend you open this box it may enjoy a seal on it and your utility company will be upset if you break it and inside are exposed wires next to 220 volts on them.
For any newer home always get hold of a 200 amp service. For homes 20 yrs or more and you want to upgrade the service use a minimum of a 100 amp service
