the toilet used to run after flushing, my house guest turned off the dampen instead of lifting the stick or jiggling the knob. Now the tank won't replenish on its own. I've turned the water vertebrae on, I've made sure that everything is in working lay down but either the toilet won't flush or I enjoy to refill the container manually. I'm renting and don't want to have to call(and pay envelope for) a plumber because my landlord know that the toilet continued to run when I moved in here but didn't hold it fixed just told me how to, temporarily, fix it when it happen. Please help
Answers: Sometimes the rubber washer surrounded by the angle valve (on pipe coming out of wall or floor) falls stale from age and corrosion and blocks the water from feed into the tank. Turn spigot counter clockwise to open. If you perceive a grinding sensation your valve is probably shot. If you can shut the spigot off, you can after look in the toilet cistern and see the fill spout. If this fill tap says FluidMaster on it you can lug the top of the valve past its sell-by date to get to the rubber washer surrounded by the fill stopcock. ONLY IF YOU KNOW THE WATER IS OFF. Sometimes dirt clogs the washer. If you are not handy with home repairs don't do this.
